First day of MSPO 2025: PIT-RADWAR signs a contract for the supply of Passive Location Radars (PLR)
On September 2nd, during the MSPO in Kielce, an agreement was signed between the PGZ NAREW Consortium and the Armaments Agency for the supply of 46 passive positioning radars for the Narew program.
The agreement, signed in the presence of Deputy Prime Minister and Minister of National Defense Władysław Kosiniak-Kamysz, is related to the progress of the construction of a short-range air defense system. The agreement will expand the PGZ Capital Group's radar system production capabilities and is worth PLN 5.8 billion.
The Passive Location Radar is a globally innovative airspace surveillance system.
It provides continuous airspace surveillance and aircraft recognition in a completely passive manner, without indicating its own position and independent of active radars. The key feature of the PLR is the combination of two subsystems:
- PCL (Passive Coherent Location), which allows for target detection based on signals from opportunistic transmitters, such as mobile phones and digital television.
- PET (Passive Emitter Tracking), which allows for the detection of signals emitted by airborne platforms.
The PLR was developed by PIT-RADWAR S.A. as part of a project by the National Centre for Research and Development in collaboration with AM Technologies and the Warsaw University of Technology.
